PLC Armidale has been located on its current site for 53 years. A Master Site Plan guides the continued development of the site and its buildings to offer modern indoor and outdoor facilities in an environmentally friendly and tranquil setting of parklands, gardens and native flora.
The Master Plan is a working document for upgrading the facilities at the College, including the
recent refurbishment of four Science Laboratories. Ongoing facility development is a priority of the College in keeping with our aim to inspire life-long learning by providing staff and students the spaces in which best to teach and learn.

year 12 study centre
The Year 12 Study Centre, is a separate purpose-built space on our Senior School campus, which is a dedicated area for our Year 12 girls to use throughout the day. Each Year 12 student has their own study area in the building with access to a careers centre, senior classroom, common room and kitchen. This unique space facilitates a culture of study and engagement helping the girls focus on their final year of schooling, whilst also preparing for the future.
PLC Armidale was the launch site for the National Broadband Network signalling the College’s commitment to using technology as a powerful tool to enhance student learning and improve business efficiency.
Technology is featured in the Junior School through iPads and smart boards in each classroom. A Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT) program operates in the Senior School aided by an extensive wireless access network and IT support.
Video Conferencing facilities enables a real time and place connection with PLC Sydney as well as other schools for subject delivery, conferencing and debating.
Library Resource Centres
Two Library Resource Centres service the needs of the College, one in the Junior School and a larger Library with seminar rooms and video conferencing facilities in the Senior School. Recently refurbished, the Library Resource Centres provide a place for the girls to meet, read, collaborate, study, plan and enjoy the facilities available to them. Boarder’s Prep and study time take place each evening in the Senior School centre. Opening hours are 8.30am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
Opened in 2012, the Hospitality Centre forms part of a Trade Training Facility allowing the girls to complete VET Courses in Hospitality. The Centre boasts a state of the art commercial kitchen with adjacent classroom, kitchen garden and outdoor entertaining space.
Sporting Facilities and Gymnasium
The Dorothy Knox Centre (DKC), completed in 2006, is a multi-purpose facility designed to accommodate all indoor sporting needs for the school including netball, hockey, basketball and gymnastics. As a versatile space, it also provides a great venue for large school functions.
The expansive grounds of the College also features a 400m grass athletics track which is well used by the students as well as other schools and community groups for training, carnivals and sports. Six hard surface tennis courts located on the school grounds provide another recreational space used extensively by the College , as well as professional tennis coaches for clinics and training.
creative & performing Arts
The Creative Arts flourish at PLC Armidale. With dedicated art, music and drama spaces in a purpose built Creative Arts wing, a wide range of class based and co-curricular opportunities are available to the girls in these three disciplines. The Astra Arts Centre, incorporating the College Chapel, sits alongside the Dorothy Knox Centre and the Hospitality Centre, creating a flexible performance space which seats over 350 people comfortably. A large foyer area provides a suitable space for a variety of displays and College events.
