Language Requirements

It is in the student’s best interest that she has a reasonable understanding of written and spoken English in order to gain maximum benefit from her studies, and students are advised to have had a basic familiarity with English for at least the last two years.

PLC Armidale requires details of a student’s English ability before an application will be processed.

Students entering Year 5 or above will be required to have been:

  • instructed in English as a main language
  • instructed in English at an international school for 2 years or more
  • achieved an IELTS or AEAS test score at the level indicated by the College for her time of entry.

We are very pleased to offer an English language support program at PLC Armidale (for an additional charge).

Our integrated program enables our overseas students to develop their English language skills and to study alongside Australian students.

Support in English is provided in specialist classes for international students. These classes are conducted by qualified staff.

In other classes, such as Mathematics, Science and Physical Education, our international students participate in regular classes with Australian students.

This program enables our international students to take part in the College program overall while developing their English language skills.
