hockey

Hockey continues to be one of our College's most popular sports.

Girls have the opportunity to play both socially and competitively in the local competition, and for those who are more competitive, enrolment at PLC Armidale offers a number of pathways to future success in the sport, for example IGSSA, NIAS and beyond.

Our coaches are some of the best in the region and encourage our girls to play fairly, work as a team and to play the game to the best of their abilities.

Offered in Terms 2 & 3, our Junior girls play Hockey either on Saturday mornings or Friday nights and our Senior girls participate on the weekends in the Hockey New England competition.

Trainings are held during the week on the synthetic turf at Sport UNE. Senior fitness training sessions are conducted before school during the Winter terms.

IGSSA selection for our senior girls is conducted during Term 1, with intensive training held until the IGSSA commences in Term 3.

Our girls also participate in numerous one-off carnvials, to hone their skills and build camaraderie, such as the National Primary Games in Tamworth.

Throughout the year, our senior girls also have the opportunity to develop new skills in umpiring and coaching Hockey.

To be able to participate in Hockey at PLC Armidale, each girl is required to complete a Hockey Sports Contract, which is available here:
