Music @ PLC Armidale

Musical excellence has long been synonymous with PLC Armidale, where musicians flourish.
Many of our talented graduates have been placed in the top 10% of the State for their HSC and many are gaining selection to Conservatoriums of Music in Australia and around the world.

Offered as a subject from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 and Music may be chosen as an Elective subject in Years 9 – 12.

In addition to specialist music in the Junior School, all students participate in stage based choirs as singing is fundamental to the early development of musical skills and concepts such as pitch, rhythm and harmony.

Our small cohorts provide a safe space for students to try something new as well as a wonderful opportunity to tailor the musical programs to suit the interests of our students.

Our college has a number of large and small instrumental ensembles as well as choirs and smaller vocal ensembles which cater to a diverse range of musical genres and experiences.

These include: Senior Strings, Junior Strings, Senior String Quartet; Senior School Choir, Cello Ensemble; Absoflutely PLC; PLC Jazzercise; PLC Advanced Chamber Ensemble; PLC Piano Trio; PLC Acappella; Bel Canto; PLC Bucket Corps; Junior String Quartet; PLC Community Choir; PLC Collective.
Many of these ensembles and choirs rehearse outside of class time and we are involved in a number of performances within the school and wider community.

Music tuition is available to our students from highly qualified peripatetic music teachers in a range of instruments including voice, piano,

orchestral string instruments, guitar, woodwind (flute, recorder, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone), brass (trumpet, trombone, French horn, tuba), drums and organ.

PLC Armidale has a diverse range of musical instruments available for hire at very competitive rates.

Tuition can be arranged for instruments not listed.
