19 for 19
On Sunday 21 November the 19 for 19 challenge will be held in honour of Anya Zuber (2019 Graduate).
At just 13, Armidale local Anya Zuber was diagnosed with high grade metastatic osteosarcoma, an aggressive tumour that grows in the bones of the body. After 6 years of treatment, hospital stays and surgeries, Anya passed away at just 19 years of age, on 12 September 2020. Anya wished that her body, her experience with the disease, and any other resources be focussed on the ongoing research to end osteosarcoma and improve treatments.
Anya’s family are working with Children’s Cancer Institute Australia (CCIA) and have established a new research project called Anya’s Wish. They are committed to raising $600,000 over the next three years. This world leading, three-year critical research project will significantly improve therapies and survivability for young people diagnosed with osteosarcoma.
To honour Anya’s 19 years and to help ease the burden of this disease through raising funds for Anya’s Wish, Anya’s family have teamed up with Tour de Rocks to walk 19km through the spectacular New England gorge country on Sunday 21 November.

Well Term 4 is well and truly zooming ahead, now that we are all back at school.
I hope that many of you were able to join PLC Armidale’s brilliant ‘Safe on Social’ presentation last week. It was not only very informative, but personally I found a little confronting. It was a very timely reminder of how important the lines of communications between our children and us as parents are.
