message from the principal
Visitors to PLC Armidale often remark on
the beautiful gardens and expansive facilities providing a unique setting in
which girls flourish. A specialist in girls’ education, the College has a long
history and well-earned reputation of equipping girls to strive and achieve
across a range of endeavours; academic, sporting, music and the performing arts
along with community service.
A leader in girls’ education located in
the beautiful New England region of NSW, PLC Armidale in strategic alliance
with its sister school in Sydney, provides
students many of the opportunities of a larger city school within a
smaller school context. Every girl is known as an individual and has the
opportunity to participate in a wide range of programs and activities on offer
which build confidence, develop skills and foster personal growth along the
way.
The rich heritage of Christian and
Presbyterian Education with its strong emphasis on academic endeavour and
community engagement remains a key focus of the college. Girls are encouraged
to be active participants in the learning journey from Pre-Kinder through to
Year 12. A culture of excellence and
commitment to learning sees girls strive, achieve and succeed. Perseverance,
enthusiasm and curiosity are encouraged through the breadth of subjects studied
as well as the extensive co-curricular program. The small class size and
caring, committed staff help to ensure that girls across a range of abilities
are supported to become active participants in a learning community.
The commitment to partner with families
in the education of their daughters provides a framework to nurture the growth
of the whole person - mind, body and spirit. The academic program, sporting opportunities,
a sequential outdoor education program and an emphasis on pastoral care are the
means by which this holistic approach is undertaken. Students of the College
actively participate in programs such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award,
overseas service learning trips, and school exchange experiences developing an
informed global perspective.
At PLC Armidale, our size is a strength.
Girls thrive in an environment where participation is expected, perseverance is
encouraged and accomplishment is celebrated. A strong performance culture
exists at the College, expressed through numerous music ensembles and choral
groups. Drama, public speaking and debating
enable the girls to refine communication and presentation skills
building confidence and critical thinking along the way.
Sport and physical activity are valued at
the College. Pathways exist for girls to participate and compete at a local, regional, state and national level.
Teamwork, commitment and a sense of fair play are developed which equip students
for life.
PLC Armidale graduates are known as young
women of character and substance. Leadership skills fostered and developed in
the Junior School are exercised and
applied throughout the Senior School.
Courage, resilience, compassion and humility
feature in the leadership through service model of the College.
PLC Armidale is a unique school with a
unique charm. We trust a visit to this site conveys a sense of that. We welcome
the opportunity to have you visit and experience it for yourself.
PLC Armidale ... where girls flourish.
